About the image

Jerry Garcia is captured here setting up for a concert in San Francisco's Panhandle adjacent to the legendary Golden Gate Park. He is here next to Freewheelin' Frank, the then secretary of the local chapter of the Hell's Angels motorcycle club. A fixture of life in the Haight during the late 1960s, the Hell's Angels often provided security for their concerts, and Frank frequently played the tambourine with them onstage!
