About the image

After blowing the world away with his performance at the Monterey Pop Festival, Jimi Hendrix headed to San Francisco for six nights at the Fillmore. On the Sunday following the engagement, Hendrix played a free concert in the Panhandle using Jefferson Airplane's flatbed truck, already loaded with equipment. This was the first concert of the famed "Summer of Love," held a week early, in front of a few hundred people.
