Jimi Hendrix during soundcheck at the 1967 Monterey Pop Festival. Although well-known internationally at the time, Jimi had yet to make it big in the United States. His appearance at Monterey Pop changed all that, though, especially during the iconic burning and smashing of his guitar at the finale of his performance.
