CSNY are captured here performing Stills' famous song
Suite: Judy Blue Eyes at the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum on July 13, 1974. This piece is based on the original black & white photograph which was then hand-colored by Brian Porizek for Joel Bernstein and then chosen for the cover of the
CSNY 1974 box set released in 2014. About this tour, Graham Nash is quoted as saying, "We were on top of our game. We knew we had good music to play, and we knew we were good enough musicians to play it. The rest just fell into place."
Graham Nash and Joel Bernstein co-produced this live multimedia box-set which peaked at number 17 on the Billboard 200 the week it was released. The duo had previously worked together many times in studio, co-producing each of Crosby, Stills, and Nash's own solo retrospecive box-sets, among other projects beyond the CSNY orbit.
About this particular image, Graham once said in an interview with
The Globe and Mail, "that shot was taken by Joel Bernstein at the Oakland Coliseum show, which was four shows into the tour. At that moment, I realized we had bitten off an enormous undertaking, and that we could pull it off."
