About the image
Dylan wrote the song Hurricane to tell the story of Rubin Carter’s wrongful conviction after reading his autobiography and meeting with him while he was incarcerated. The song was recorded during rehearsals for the Rolling Thunder Revue Tour and the single was released in November, 1975. During the tour Dylan played a benefit concert for Carter at Madison Square Garden, where he met Muhammad Ali and raised $100,000 for his appeals. Rubin Carter’s conviction was overturned and he was eventually released in 1985.
