About the image
These sketches were created to mock up the planned design for the Rolling Stones album Let It Bleed in 1969.

The design was based on the working title of the album at the time, “Automatic Changer” which was a new feature on some record players. Brownjohn built the sculpture seen on the front cover, which was comprised of: an old gramophone stylus/arm, a record, a dinner plate, a film reel canister, a clock face, a pizza, a bicycle tire and a specialty cake with miniature figurines of the band as toppers. All these items were mounted on an extra long spindle as though they were the records on the changer.

The back cover was this same sculpture photographed in disarray, as though it were showing the aftermath of a great party.

These one-of-a-kind sketches are sold as a set that includes Brownjohn's original photographs used for the album, along with their original transparencies.
