About the image
John Lennon poses behind a suit of armor in front of one of his drawings in the entryway of his new house in Weybridge.  Robert Freeman writes, "A designer friend of Brian Epstein supervised the interior decorations; working on short notice, he had the delicate task of fusing his own taste with that of the forthright but whimsical John and the more home-loving Cynthia."

Like many British musicians, art was actually Lennon's first love. He began drawing long before he had a guitar. He attended the prestigious Liverpool Art Institute for three years (1957-1960) before the Beatles became a full-time occupation. He continued to draw throughout his life.
