About the image
Pablo Picasso is one of the most recognized figures in 20th-century art, known for co-founding the Cubist movement. Here he is depicted towards the end of his life, relaxing at the beach with a cigarette.

The painter died at his home during a dinner party in 1973, at age 91. His final words were: “Drink to me, drink to my health, you know I can’t drink any more.”
