*The Beatles Backstage at the Cavern - With Neil Aspinall, Liverpool, 1963
By Shahrokh Hatami
About the image
An intimate shot of the Beatles backstage at the Cavern Club in 1963, featuring Neil Aspinall - a childhood friend of Paul McCartney and George Harrison. Aspinall was their road manager in the early days prior to becoming an executive at Apple Corps. So this photo of the band not only features one of the great minds of the rock business, but also three of the most significant guitars in rock history.
Hatami was sent to Liverpool by Paris Match magazine to cover the Beatlemania phenomenon, where he managed to gain access backstage at the legendary Cavern Club and shot several amazing images of the "Fab Four" both individually, and together as seen here.
An example from this edition is in the permanent collection of "The Beatles" Story Museum in Liverpool, England.
