Stanley Mouse was commissioned by the Grateful Dead in 1970 to create individual band portraits for the back cover of their forthcoming album Workingman's Dead. This original artwork was the first portrait he created of Bob Weir for the project, but another version with less contrast was used instead because it would reproduce better in print.
