About the image
Pete Townsend is captured here from backstage as he leaps into the air holding his guitar overhead. He is outfitted in his trademark jumpsuit from the Tommy era. The Who were one of the main attractions at the now legendary 1969 Isle of Wight Festival - with an audience of about 150,000 people - and where Bob Dylan made his first live concert appearance after being out of the public eye for roughly 3 years prior to this event.
