Prince pushed Afshin Shahidi creatively for their decade plus collaboration. "[Prince saw] the world as a place of opportunities, not limitations. He taught by example. I knew I had to grow as a photographer, both technically and artistically - I had no choice."

This photograph was captured in the same manner that many were on the road - spontaneously, during a free moment where Afshin could grab Prince and try to use the current surroundings to create an interestinng visual narrative. This stunning portrait was taken in the back of the trailer after all the tour equipment had been unloaded.

"Somewhere, 2004. Whenever we would get to a new venue, I would look around for a cool backdrop to photograph Prince in front of. This place stumped me. For the life of me, I wcouldn't find anything. As I was standing by the loading dock contemplating my next move, Prince stepperd out and said "What do you got?" In a moment somewhere between desperation and inspiration, I pointed to the empty trailer that earlier had contained some of the sound equipment for the Musicology Tour. I showed him one quick test shot that he loved and we shot a handful of pictures before he had to run off to the sound check." (Afshin Shahidi, Prince A Private View )
