Milla Jovovich at 13 and adorable, was always hiding a book behind her back that she went back to reading at the slightest interruption. Her mother Galina, behind the photographer, was patiently indicating poses. Milla looked like she couldn’t care less. When we finished, I gave Milla a piece of clear crystal as a gift: “Is it magic?” she asked. “Yes,” I said, “make a wish.”
