Steve McQueen Portrait (III), The Hunter Film Set, Chicago, 1979
By Barbara McQueen
About the image
Steve stares straight-on into Barbara’s camera on the set of The Hunter. Despite a few extra wrinkles, Steve is still as dashingly handsome as he was as a young Hollywood star (at least in Barbara’s opinion!). To prepare for The Hunter, Steve decided to meet with the real-life bounty hunter he was portraying, Ralph Thorson. Though the pair looked nothing alike, what they had in common was a rebellious spirit, both men played by their own rules and didn’t take shit from anyone.
