Steve McQueen, Road Less Traveled, Montana, 1978
By Barbara McQueen
About the image
Ever the American icon, Steve McQueen walks towards the camera and away from his powder yellow Ford pick-up truck holding a Coors. He bought the truck from a farm worker on his and Barbara's travels to Montana. Steve had a tendency to buy whichever car he liked. He would spot the car, follow it, flag the owner down and offer them a good sum for the vehicle and pink slip. Steve also always traveled with a six-pack of beers in a cooler; his favorite brand was Old Milwaukee but he bought the Coors for Barbara.
