Steve McQueen with Buster, Tom Horn Film Set, Patagonia, AZ, 1979

Steve McQueen was meticulous while researching the characters he played. For 1979's Tom Horn the screen legend read everything he could on the real-life Horn, even going so far as to visit his grave in Boulder, Colorado. He also became so proficient at riding horses that he used a hackamore instead of reins, and spent countless hours shooting beer cans after the cameras stopped rolling.
