About the image
Elvis and the Birth of Rock is the King as you have never seen him before. Captured by a 17-year-old Lew Allen, who got his start when he just happened to be the only professional photographer at the Cleveland Arena in November, 1956 as Elvis Presley took the stage. Published here for the first time: Elvis Presley, The Everly Brothers, Bobby Darin, Frankie Avalon, Buddy Holly and many more seen through the lens of Lou Allen.
Alongside the stunning photography, Elvis & the Birth of Rock features a text of over 7,000 words where Lew and guest editor Mike McCartney describe what is was like to be in the presence of these now legendary performers.
