About the image
The Clash released their second studio album Give 'em Enough Rope at the end of November, 1978, which was later voted Album of the Year by both Rolling Stone and Time magazines.

Joe Strummer & Mick Jones recorded a few tracks for the album at The Automatt Studio in San Francisco and they returned to the Bay Area with the band in February 1979, to kick off their first American Tour entitled "Pearl Harbor '79", with Bo Diddley as their opening act. In true Punk Rock form, they performed an unauthorized tour date at the Temple in San Francisco the day after their Berkeley Community Theater show, advertised exclusively through graffiti to get around their exclusive contract with Bill Graham.
