James Brown performing in Harlem at a benefit street concert. "The Godfather of Soul" was renowned for his social activism for various civil rights organizations, including Jesse Jackson's PUSH and The Black Panther Party's Breakfast program.

"I went back stage when a song was over and yelled out 'James!' He turned around, saw me and smiled."
