About the image

This image from the Endangered Species Suite portrays the two largest land animals in the world - as well as two of the most critically endangered. The white rhino is one of five remaining rhino species in Africa and Asia. Habitat loss has contributed to their plight. But the rhino's downfall has been their most prominent feature: their horns. Like the rhino, the elephant has been hunted extensively for a small part of their bodies: their valued ivory tusks.
