Keith Richards Monoprint Black/Blue/Metallic, c.1987

By Ronnie Wood
About the image

This is a rare mono-print (one of a kind) of Keith Richards based on a portrait he has painted many times, especially in the early years of his art career.

He first made a woodcut of this portrait when he came to San Francisco to study printmaking in 1984. He carved the original woodblock by hand, and made a small edition of prints (see Keith Richards Woodcut here) at the time. In 1987, he continued to explore the art at one of the foremost print studios in England, where he produced a number of colorful experiments like this one.

After these initial pieces, he dedicated a large portion of his time to developing his print offerings. Ronnie has since released hundreds of incredible hand-signed, limited edition prints, most of which are now sold out.

Release Notes:
This unique print was produced as a woodblock print with added layers of screen-printing and/or brushwork on a heavyweight black art paper. This piece features silvery blue metallic tones set against a dark grey and black background.

Ronnie only produced a handful of these monoprints, each one a unique work of art.
