About the image

James Brown, "the hardest working man in show business," is the subject of this thoughtful portrait from Ronnie Wood's Rhythm and Blues Suite.

Renowned for his vocals and feverish dancing, Brown helped usher in a new era of black pride in the late 1960s with such socially-conscious singles as "Say It Loud – I'm Black and I'm Proud."

The Rhythm & Blues Suite:
This series is comprised of six separate drypoint etchings of iconic R&B performers including: Big Bill Broonzy, Billie Holiday, James Brown, Little Richard, Ray Charles, & Sam Cooke.

Release Notes:
